To Mali and back

Bike Trac is delighted to join forces with Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) members, Doug Smith and Max Jowett, as the pair plan to ride 8,000 miles from the UK to Mali in October and November 2013, as a tribute to late friend Simon Milward.

Starting from Doug's home town of Barnstaple in Devon, the pair will ride through six countries, planning to arrive in Mali in early October, where they will visit 'Simon's Tree' - a memorial to Simon Milward who sadly died in Mali on a motorcycle adventure in March 2005

Doug, who works as a staff nurse at the North Devon District Hospital, commented, "This journey is very much a MAG affair through and through. We were both inspired by the book 'Harley to Mali' written by MAG President, Ian Mutch and could not think of a more fitting tribute to Simon than to undertake it ourselves. Both Max and myself are long term motorcyclists, but despite our experience on two-wheels this is still a pretty epic ride for us. We hope to complete the journey in 45 days."

Bike Trac will support the journey utilising its latest tracking technology, combined with a special Event Eagle website where the public can view the duo's progress.

Bike Trac's Bill Taylor explained, "With one of our units fitted to Doug's BMW R1200GS, anyone can view the progress on the trip, while they can also upload images along the way and Tweets too. We're delighted to support them on this journey and hope the addition of Bike Trac will make it safer for them too."
